July 20 - Picnic at Creekside Park - 12:00 - 3:00. 4400 E Virginia Ave, Denver, CO 80246. We will provide chicken and beverages. Please bring a salad, side dish or dessert. RSVP to Ann Monson at firstname.lastname@example.org and let her know how many are coming and what you can bring. Friends and families are welcome!
June 15 - Our speakers will be from Canine Companions for Independence (CCI). CCI provides highly trained assistance dogs (free of charge) to people with a variety of disabilities, including hearing dogs for people with hearing loss. Jeni Exley, a volunteer puppy raiser for Canine Companions will provide an overview of the organization and Colette Cole will discuss the Hearing Dog program followed by a demonstration of the tasks her dog, Fred, provides for her.
May 18 - Ginnie Ferraro, Acoustic Neuroma Association, Denver Support Group Leader.
Ginnie will discuss acoustic neuromas including the types, causes, symptoms, and treatment options.
April 20 - Kim Spuhler, Community Risk Reduction Specialist, South Metro Fire Rescue
Kim will be discussing emergency preparedness, including home fires and larger natural disasters with a focus on the needs of the hearing loss community.
March 16 - Group Discussion
Join us to share ideas, ask questions, and learn from others about dealing with the challenges of hearing loss. We will also be presenting information about an exciting new app, SoundPrint! SoundPrint lets you measure the noise level in restaurants and record them, creating a database of quiet and noisy restaurants in Denver.
February 16 - Erica Krause, Clear Captions
Erica unexpectedly showed up at our meeting when our scheduled speaker had to cancel. We were thrilled to have her share information about the Clear Captions phone. These phones are free to those who qualify and currently require a landline and high speed internet. Soon the captioning will be available for the iPhone and for those without a landline using a VOIP connection. Thank you, Erica!
